Types of Raita

Cucumber Raita- Raita is made from grated cucumber and mild spices. cucumbers are super hydrating. They’re made up of about 95% water, which not only helps keep you refreshed but also aids in digestion.

Fruit Raita- Sweet raita made of curd and mixed fruits. This raita recipe is simply spiced with roasted cumin powder, red chilli powder and rock salt.

Pudina Coriander Raita- Raita with the flavor and taste of fresh mint and coriander.

Tomato Raita- This raita is tangy and tasty and is as simple to make as other raita.

Jeera Raita- Simple raita is made from roasted cumin seeds, which is tasty to eat.

Pro tips 

Curd- Good quality curd makes raita tasty. The taste of raita depends on the taste of curd, hence the curd should be of good quality. If curd is homemade then it is better. The curd should be slightly sour.

Vegetables- Vegetables should be fresh and should be cooked properly.

Spices- If the spices are crushed then the aroma of the spices will make the raita even more delicious. Add roasted cumin powder only.

Boondi- Boondi comes in two types: with spices and without spices. I mostly prefer spicy boondi. The taste of raita becomes more spicy due to this.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup yogurt
  • ½ cup boondi
  • ½ tsp cumin powder
  • ¼ tsp chaat masala
  • ¼ tsp  red chili powder
  • ¼  black pepper powder
  • 1 tsp mint finely chopped
  • salt as required

Instructions
 

  •  To a bowl add the boondi. Now pour hot water over the boondi. Let sit 5 minutes. Skip this step if you like crunchy boondi raita.
  •   After 5 minutes, drainthe water and set the boondi aside. Remember to not soak the boondi for more than 4 to 5 minutes for them to retain their shape.
  • To another bowl, add 1cup of yogurt. Mix it well using a wire whisk.
  • Add water to thin out the yogurt as needed. Adjust the consistency of the raita as desired.
  • Use a whisk so that everything gets mixed well.
  • .Now, add the cumin powder, chaat masala, red chili powder, black pepper and salt, to taste
  • Add 1 tablespoon freshly chopped mint and the soaked and drained boondi into the yogurt.
  • Garnish the raita with dry boondi. Cool and serve at room temperature.
